Service Description

NEW 2024! Shallow Submerged (Inc with $194.00 class) and Settled at Depth $224.00 with avpU victims! Still includes the live victim with unstable vehicle in moving water training ($194.00) Two, 10-hour classes hosted by the Hammond LA Fire Department. May 13 & 14 . This is more than just a Canal Rescue course. This course applies several techniques your department may be able to use for several scenarios involving both live and submerged unresponsive victims trapped on most platforms in static or moving water. Students completing all of the components and paperwork will receive a picture certification card backed by IDEA Public Safety Top Water Rescue Division. Students that have previous moving water, PPE, rope bag and hydrology training, this a 10hr day. Students with no previous moving water, PPE, rope bag or training in hydrology, this is 12 hour day. Pool day conducting Settled at Depth training, either as rescue swimmers or quick rescue SCUBA divers, can be added (24hs) This course is tailored to your region and research is conducted prior to our arrival to highlight potential locations and scenarios that your department may use to further train and prepare. - Scenarios address static, contaminated, swift water (aerated, standing waves, obvious hydrology, challenging swim) and slowly moving water. - Six canal construction considerations that will make your scene assessment more reliable. - Eight vehicle positions and categories to quickly determine the level of response required. - Float assessments and case studies of vehicles in the water and how to use the environment to increase the likelihood of extricating all victims before a vehicle sinks. - Resource Determination- Quickly establish what you can do and what help you need. - Recommended crew assignments and responsibilities. - Methods of utilizing the eight low to high-risk rescue options in a canal scenario. - Inclusion of resources your department likely already has on hand. - Recognizing stable vs unstable vehicles in moving water, mitigation and angle of approach. - Access, Extrication, RIT, Medical and Decon. - Hydrology with specific focus on Delta Ps as well potential reasons why flash flooding could occur without warning during a canal mission. -Easy to set up plan B options for moving water rescue.
