Rescue Boat Op: White Water Endorsement
IDEA, IRIA Rescue Boat or ERDI Small Boat Operations course.
- At your classroom and static water site, day 2 on white water
This 24hr performance-based course is a two-day course* designed to provide first responders training in their own vessels in varying scenarios in near to near-static water to moving water fast enough to create aeration, foam, large reversals, large waves with crests and breaks while working in close quarters with other vessels and potential debris. Videos of the location can be found on this site. Includes 1/2-day class, didactic and case studies. Second half of the day 200m swim / 20 min float, Boat prep and handling, confidence course rescue maneuvering and tactics. Day two is at a site that offers both mild to moderate swift water, Class 2 or 3 depending on time of year and location (New Orleans or Shreveport). When white water is unavailable, white-water endorsement can be obtained the following season, for a completely renewed credential, good for two years. Min student numbers vary based on class. No more than 4 students in one boat. Besides a few team-building lessons, every student gets tiller time both days in every skill. Boat rental may be available for $450/day + fuel
